I had a real blast making my card for Sunday Sketch & Stamp this fortnight. This was one of these wonderful cards that just 'fell' into place. Sem's sketch was a joy to work with, and having recently received a 'small' delivery from Funky Kits, I knew exactly which stamp I wanted to use! Here's what's in it:

One Stop Craft Challenge #68 - Wall Hanging

Gina has set us an interesting challenge at One Stop Craft Challenge this week. She is asking us to create a wall hanging.

I did begin working on a canvas based collage which was coming along well, but I couldn't get it finished to my satisfaction in time for this challenge. Luckily, I had also been experimenting with customising picture frames, so I came up with what you can see above. My love of cupcakes is well known, and I could just see this taking pride of place in my kitchen. Here's how I made it:

I painted the plain wooden picture frame with 'soft apple' paint. After it was dry, I stamped my images and text on (both from my Inkadinkado 'Eat Cupcakes' collection), and coloured the cupcakes in with my ProMarkers. I stapled the ribbon onto the back of the frame to hang it by, and cut some cupcake paper to size to fill the frame (I may, at a later date, have a very unflattering picture of me stuffing my face with cupcake to put in there!)

One Stop Craft Challenge - A Sketch From Chrissie

Sorry I'm a day late in posting this - I've had a weekend full of friends, and it's just been non-stop fun since yesterday!

This week at One Stop Craft Challenge, our ever so talented Chrissie gave us this sketch to follow:

And here's what I came up with!

I was so pleased that this GF Edward stamp turned up in time to use for this challenge (although as someone commented to me, he does look a bit like Jedward!)Here's what went into it:

Stamp: Greeting Farm Edward, coloured with Promarkers

Papers: Patterned paper from a magazine freebie, coloured card from stash, embossed in the Cuttlebug

Sentiment: from a Buzz-Craft sentiment sheet

Embellishments: Buttons from The Works, ribbon from Crafty Ribbons

As I have a lot of birthdays in April/May/June (2 brothers, 1 sister, 1 mum, 1 mother-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, 2 aunties, 1 uncle, and 3 friends) I always like to get a head start on my making. And I can see this Edward stamp getting used for my brothers and male friends - he's neither to 'old' nor too 'young' for them, which is something I've been struggling with for other stamps.

I think I've discovered a pattern for my Christmas cards this year. These wonderful My MInd's Eye die-cuts make the perfect focal points, and these cards were so quick and easy to make that they will be ideal for handing around at work etc., leaving me more time to focus on some extra special cards for my closest friends and family.

Time flies when your making cards, and we're up to challenge #15 already at Sunday Sketch & Stamp. My turn to set the sketch, and this is what I came up with:

I used my Miss Anya stamp and somehow stumbled upon the blue and orange theme. Anya is coloured with my ProMarkers and mounted onto a scalloped circle. The DP came free with a magazine, and I coloured my paper flowers to match everything - enjoy!

Now although this sketch is quite Christmas-y, I decided to take it in another direction:

The stamp is the beautiful Sugar Nellie owl that came free with Craft Stamper magazine - isn't he gorgeous? I decided to jazz up the tag by wrapping green ribbon around it, and made my bow at the top by tieing assorted ribbons together. I've not added a greeting yet, as I've not decided who to send this too.

Hope you're all well? I woke up with the sniffs this morning, so I'm hoping that I'm not developing a cold :o(

One Stop Craft Challenge - Die Cuts

Good afternoon everyone. I'm a bit late getting this up today, but I have a very good reason. I was up and out early this morning to go to the Alexandra Palace (Allly Pally) craft fair - oh joys! And even better, I'd convinced my friend Nads to come with me - good excuse to get together. So now I am all worn out from shopping, but boy did I get a lot of goodies. More on them later...

For now, I have this week's card for the One Stop Craft Challenge. The theme of Die Cuts has been set by Shelley, which was as good a reason as any to get my nesties out!

Like it? The stamped image I got in a RAK and coloured with my Promakers. I kept this nice and simple as the paper speaks for itself, but I do quite like the ribbons stapled down the side.

Card for 3 Challenges

Here's a quicky card that just so happens to fit with three challenges, but is really just an excuse to show off my new stamp!!!

So, this follows the sketch and Indian Summer theme at Truly Scrumptious (I'm presuming nice bright colours and flowers make it summery enough), the ABC Challenge which is C for Circles, and the Stamp Something Challenge of My Favourite Stamp (because I have wanted this set of stamps for so long, they have got to be my favourites - at least for now!)

Miss Anya has paper-pieced clothes and is coloured in with promarkers. The circle-y backing paper is from the Smirk range (friendship I think), and the paper roses I picked up in The Works recently (along with a gorgeous selection of charms.

You may have noticed that I'm photographing and blogging from my iPhone more recently - it's brilliant, and it means I remember to blog more often!

Maggie's 10 Card Challenge

Friday Sketchers #65

Now don't be shocked, but I've actually managed to get my arse in gear, and make a card for a challenge!

There was a wonderful sketch over at Friday Sketchers, which was perfect for a card I wanted to make:

As you can see, I've gone a little cupcake crazy on this one! This is one of those cards that took a different direction than what I had originally intended. After I had made the cupcakes, I thought I would go for a pink and brown colour theme, but on routing through my papers I came up with this gorgeous blue cupcake paper (yet another magazine freebie - no wonder I'm drowning in paper!) and so the scheme became blue and red, but I still had to have my pink in there ;o). The cupcake stamps came from 2 different stamp sets but worked perfectly together as they were about the same size. And do you like my little cupcake epoxy stickers? They are from my favourite shop - Paperchase!

Sunday Sketch & Stamp #9 - My Sketch

Time is really flying over at Sunday Sketch & Stamp, and it's already my turn to set the sketch again.

Here's what I came up with:

And here's my card (using an image from this fornight's digistamp prize from Crafts4Eternety.

Aren't the stamps just so cuute? And they were so pleasant to colour, I must say. I used my ProMarkers to colour the C4E stamps in, and mounted them onto a circle of pearlescent blue card. My backing DP is from a Dovecraft stack, and I've embeslished with sheer ribbon, a peel-off sentiment, and a paper flower.

Hello my lovelies! Hope you all are well.

It's Shelley's turn to set the theme over at One Stop Craft Challenge this week, and she's come up with a stonker - the colour combo of pink & black. Here's my card:

Now, it may look like red, but I've actually used electric pink with my black. This card is for a very dear friend of mine, and it suits her perfectly. The stamp is part of a 'tattoo' set I got from the Ink Pad in New York, and this is the first time I've used it (although I can see me using it again very soon!). The heart and sentiment are flocked. When I thought about it afterwards, I wish I'd flocked the shoe - something for me to try next time I guess.

This isn't actually a card, it's a little folder with a telephone message pad inside - thought it would brighten up my desk at work - whaddya think? The stamp is from Penny Black, coloured in of course with my ProMarkers. The DP came free with a magazine, and it's embellished with bits and pieces from my stash.

This week at One Stop Craft Challenge, we've another great theme, set by Paula - pearls & swirls. Here's my take on it:

My starting point was this gorgeous 'swirly' dp, which came in a pad from Tesco, of all places. I then tried out one of my new Smirk stamps which just seemed to go perfectly (and is so sweet, don't you think?). I then embellished with this gorgeous multi-coloured organza ribbon which I've had lying around unused for ages, and my favourite pearls. See, my name means pearl, so they've always been one of my favourite things.

I must apologise to everyone who took part in my GSOH challenge at One Stop last week. I've been out of town and ill all week, and I've not made it round to comment on everyone's cards. I've beenn struck with a tummy bug since last Friday which is only just clearing up, and then last night I was struck with a killer migraine. I'm on the mend now (I hope) so I'll try my best to catch up with my commenting.

2 Cards, 3 Challenges

I had a bit of free time today, so I've 'whipped-up' a couple of cards for a few challenges.

The first card fits two challenges. It follows the sketch and 'neglected stash' challenge from Truly Scrumptious (my neglected stash is the FF bear, which I bought months ago and have only used once), and also fits the 'buttons' theme from Charisma Cardz.

My second card is for the ABC Challenge. They are on U this week and have picked United States as their theme, which gave me a perfect excuse to use the decoupage topper I got while in New York.

So, what's it made of? The image is one of the C4E digi-stamps you could win, printed onto Letraset bleedproof paper, and coloured with my Promarkers. The main backing paper is from an 8"x8" Smirk DT pack (what you can't see in the photo is that many of the flowers are glittered). Everything else is just from my stash, including Hobbycraft self-adhesive ribbon.

Main components are my lovely Daisy stamp, some Papermania Purple Amythist papers, and everything else is just little bits and pieces from my stash.

Hello again my darling - it's that fabulous time when we have a new sketch over at Sunday Sketch & Stamp. The sketch has been set by the wonderful Arianne - if you haven't seen her cards before, do pop over and take a look at her blog - she's a lady with true talent!

This sketch worked out perfectly for (yet another) male birthday card I had to do - too many boys with birthdays in June - including hubby's tomorrow! I realised that I have so few male orientated stamps that aren't for really young boys - maybe an excuse to go shopping!

It's not a massivly exciting card, but it's made using my FF stamp, some free magazine papers, and all the other bits and pieces are from my stash.

Sketch & Stash Challenge #12

Yup, I've been busy, and come up with another card for another challenge - this time following the sketch at Sketch & Stash, and using two new bits of stash - a WoJ image that I got in a RAK and my new Fiskars border punch. Here it is...

Apart from the new stash mentioned above, this card also consists of my K&Co papers, paper flowers, and some pink satin ribbon from my stash. I've not put a sentiment on this yet, as I haven't decided who/what it's for, but I've got space in the bottom left to add a sentiment when I do decided.

Stamp Something - Sketch Something

I've made a card for this week's Stamp Something challenge, which is a fabulous sketch. Here's my take on it...

Used some great marbled paper that I've had lying around for ages, and the other DP is K&Co, loving distressed by me. The image was drawn for me by my wonderful and talented friend Nadine who gave me a whole bundle of them yesterday - hurrah! Coloured with a mixture of Copics and Promarkers, and the pink card is embossed through my bug. Phew! Think that about covers it (everything else is from my stash!)

One Stop Craft Challenge - Add Some Sparkle

Hello my lovelies - I'm here with another card for another One Stop Craft Challenge, this week set by Nikki, who is asking us to 'Add Some Sparkle', so out came my glitter pens (after a long time of neglect), and this is what I came up with.

Using my new Daisy stamp from Sugar Nellie (yup, I finally managed to get hold of her!), I water coloured her with inks (I'm really getting into this technique, but don't want to neglect my ProMarkers and Copics). The DP is K&Co which I glittered right up along all the swirls. Flowers from Paperchase, pink paper ribbon is (I think) Doodlebug, and the sentiment is a cheapy from a set.

Sorry there's not been many cards from me lately - to be honest I'm having a dry spell where I'm lacking inspiration. Plus, like most people I struggle with male cards but I have 4 male birthdays and Father's day all looming towards me - expect to see my results of these soon though!

Sunday Sketch & Stamp #4

Another new challenge over at Sunday Sketch & Stamp this fornight, this time with a great sketch set by Steph.

The four squares on this just seemed perfect to me for a LO, and I had been itching to have my first ever try at a 12x12 scrap page, using some pictures of the hubby and I at Brighton Beach this February...

So although my images are photos, I made sure that I did still includ stamping in this, with some fabulous stamped embelishments (on acetate - another first for me!). The stamps were from a set of 'swirls' I got while in New York. The DP is from a 12x12 pack I got in the sales at Paperchase, plus I used some Bazzil Basics. The embelishments were all odds and ends from magazines, oh and BG Cardstock sticker font.

Am knackered from the sponsored walk today (see sidebar for details), but I'm hoping to get more cards up throughout this week - we'll see!

One Stop Craft Challenge - Under Pressure

It's my turn to set the challenge over at One Stop Craft Challenge, and I've gone for Under Pressure, meaning I want to see some embossing on your cards.

Here's my DT piece;

I went all outt with my embossing on this one. My background paper was run through the cuttlebug with my new texture plates (which I adore). Also although you might not be able to see it, my sentiment is heat embossed, and all three cupcakes have had a few coats of embossing enamel on them to give them that lovely 3D glossy feel.

The sentiment was from a great set of stamps I got when I was over in New York, from a fab shop called Paper Presentation. I drew the frame myself. The cupcakes were free with a magazine (Making Cards I think) ages ago, and the paper and ribbon are just from my 'stash'

Sugar Bowl Challenge #11 - Kathy's Sketch

In an effort to keep myself awake until a respectable time tonight (I woke up just after 6 this morning - jet-lag is the pits!) I decided I'd enter a challenge, and also I wanted to make a thank you card to my mother-in-law for house sitting.

I followed the great sketch over at The Sugar Bowl, and although I tried desperately not to use a Gorjuss girl and my paper flowers, I couldn't resist ;o)

My Gorjuss girl is watercoloured using distress inks (my first time trying this technique, hence the shakiness). The DP is another magazine freebie (I could live off those things), and it's been so long since I used corrougated card that I thought I'd shake things up by using it. I've met the 'include pearls' stipluation of the Sugar Bowl challenge by using these Papermania pearls in my flower centres and as a little extra embelishments.

onHey everyone, no card from me this week (will explain in a minute), but the new challenge is up at One Stop Craft Challenge, and Shelley has set the great theme of 'Vintage', and also provided a fabulous prize. Now, why haven't I made a card this week? Well, as you may know, I was on holiday in New York last week, and due to fly back on Wednesday. However we were held up (due to poor hubby being too ill to fly) and only flew back this morning, so I am knackered. That said, holiday was fab. I don't have any pictures online, but hubby took this silly one of me - here. You should find the rest of his pictures there while you're at it, and they really are fabulous!

Hello again my lovelies. I'm here to show you my DT card for challenge 29 at One Stop Craft Challenge. This week, Paula has set us the theme of Pink & Brown - a fabulous colour combination.

As you can see, I still just can't get enough of these Gorjuss Girls - I wish I had looked like them when I was a little girl!

I decided to distress and ink the edges of of my papers - used my x-cut distressing tool. More of my gorgeous paper flowers, the DP was free with a magazine, and the letters are doodlebug cardstock stickers.

Creative Card Crew Challenge - Everyone Emboss

Hey there, just bringing you a quick card I made for this week's Creative Card Crew challenge. I say quick - I had already coloured my Gorjuss Girl (still experimenting with 'black' hair colouring) and found these papers which matched my colours perfectly. But I couldn't decide what to do with them until I saw the theme over at the challenge - embossing. Suddenly, the whole card came together - so thanks for the inspiration girls!

The DPs are from a pad I got at Tesco (lol!) The sticker greeting is from a Daisy & Dandelion set, and yup, more of my paper flowers, this time coloured to match.

One Stop Craft Challenge - Cut It Out

Hello again everyone - it's time for another One Stop Craft Challenge. This week, Sharon has picked a great theme - Cut It Out. And the prize this week is extra special - the chance to win a 2 week guest DT spot. Can't wait to see all your cards.

Here's my DT piece for the challenge, which I really had great fun making.

The paper flowers are a new addition to my stash which I got from One Stop. This packet is 'fairy', but I also bought sunset. I divided all the separate colours out into my little storage jars, and they look so gorgeous on my desk. I've been lusting after paper flowers for ages, but never saw any I liked in any shops I visit - so glad to have finally got these, and will be getting many many more!

I've layered the flowers with some Papermania pearl brads, used my nesties to cut the apeature and the 'pop-through'. Stickers, papers, fibres and gems are from my stash.

Yup, it's me again - twice in one day, wow you must feel honoured!

I'm here this time because I'm entering a card in this fortnight's Sketch and Stash Challenge. The prize this week is a 2 challenge guest DT spot, which I'm sure is much coveted! So here is my card.

I quite liked this sketch, as it's not often I will use 2 DPs on the same card. Oh, and for some reason I got it into my head to make this a Christmas card. I think it may have been on account of my new Gorjuss Girl (p.s. that's how I fulfilled the 'stash' bit of the challenge) - I just fancied seeing what she would look like in Christmas stockings - very pretty I think you'll agree. The rest of the stash is all left overs from last Christmas' stuff, mostly free magazine papers actually.

Oh, and I have a question for all you clever people out there. Like a lot of you, I think the Gorjuss girls look best with black hair. However, when I use my black copic, you can no longer see all the stamped detail. I'm not buying any new copics, as I get a better deal on Promarkers at my local art shop - can anyone recommend a pen/technique for colouring black hair without losing the detail? I'm grateful for any advice.

This was made as a birthday card for my Uncle, and isn't Hamish so darling here? I distressed some brown cardstock for the background, and the stripey paper was free with a magazine. I'm absolutely loving making my own circle flowers at the moment - isn't it nice how they co-ordinate.

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #2

This must be unheard of from me, but I've made a fourth card today. I think I'm just trying to distract myself from the trouble with my mouth (wizzy extraction site still aches and I can't bite on my temp crown at the front - which is already working loose - so I'm basically on a soup and ice-cream diet).

Anyway, this card is for the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge - which has the theme 'This is for the birds', meaning you have to use birds somewhere. When I saw the theme, I knew I had the perfect stamp!

This is for my hubby's uncle (my Uncle-in-law? Lol!), and now means I have only one April Birhday left to make a card for - hurrah! Seriously, so many of my family have Birthdays in April/May/June that it's silly!

Oh, speaking of how fabulous my hubby is, I must tell you. I've been drooling over the new set of Gorjuss Girls stamps (having missed the boat on the first set), but being unable to justify the cost, having just spent £80 on train tickets up to see Mum. Well, I was sitting tonight drooling over them again, and hubby said "just order them and I'll pay for it" - squeee! Happy Maggie Bob!

Hello, I've been busy making things today - this is the first of three challenges I'm entering!

The challenge this week at A Spoon Full of Sugar is "How Old?" and requires you to include a person's age on your card. Now, luckily I was already planning a card for my Mum that was perfect for this!

Long Time No Blog

I know I've been very quiet on the blogging front this week, but I've had a lot going on behind the scenes.

I made a huge (and I mean huge - it was A2 sized) birthday card for my brother-in-law's 30th Birthday. I'll try to upload a photo of this later.

Then, I had to go to the dentist :o(. I had a very horrible wisdom tooth extraction (the roots were curved and it was very difficult to take out, my mouth is still objecting), and I've had another (chipped) tooth filed down ready for a crown, so I've been rather occupied with that.

But also, and this is the biggest news, I've been selecting my new design team for this:

Sketch & Stash Challenge #6

Hello one and all, been a while since I've done a challenge (my weeks seem to be just flying past at the moment, plus, I'm trying to get out, or get exercise, in the evenings, not just sitting at my craft desk, which I'd usually rather do than go to the gym ;o) )

Anyway, here's my challenge card for the Sketch & Stash challenge, using new papers that I won in a blog candy, and a new promarker (the darker orange one - called 'gold')

One Stop Design Card - African Sentiments

Hey all, I've another srummy One Stop card using the wonderful Kanban African Range - enjoy!

Instructions

You will need:

A6 cream card blank
Kanban African Gold card
Kanban Red African Sentiments
Kanban Bling 5mm Gems
Red Ribbon
Glue/Foam pads/Double sided tape
Scissors/Craft Knife/Cutting Mat

Cut a piece of the Kanban African Gold card to just slightly smaller than your card blank. Adhere to the front of the blank.
Select three sentiments that suit the card you want to make. On mine, I've used two "Thank You" sentiments, and one "I ♥ you". Carefully pop the sentiments out of the topper sheet, using a craft knife if necessary.
Cut three strips of red ribbon to fit across your card, and glue at equal points down the front, as shown.
Attach your chosen sentiments over the ribbons using foam pads.
Decorate with black or red bling gems, as desired.

Penny Black Challenge #40

Hello everyone! Another week is drawing to a close - what have you all been up to. I've had a lovely weekend, not doing much, just wandering around town with husband and his camera, enjoying the gorgeous weather. Did some special shopping, which I shall blog about later tonight. For now, I have a challenge card to show you all.

This is for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge, following a wonderful sketch over there. The stamp is from my new Penny Black - Every Which Way clear stamp, and I think this cat is just so sweet. I decided not to put a sentiment on the front, but on the inside I'm going to print "Sending You All My Love" which says it all really!

2 Cards, Many Challenges, and Some Exciting News

First things first, I've made two cards (using the same new FF stamp I bought the weekend just gone), which fit a number of challenges.

This first one uses the sketch from Sketch & Stash (rotated), and the food & drink theme from Cute Card Thursday.

This second one looks quite similar, but is done following a different sketch, this time from Raspberry Ribbons, but again rotated. It also fits with the tropical theme of Dutch Dare Challenge, and bright & beautiful from Lili of the Valley.

Now for the exciting news. On coming to post this blog, I saw that my hit counter has now shot past 2000, so to celebrate I'll be launching a new blog candy very soon - watch this space!

Friday Sketchers #41

Hello one and all, and sorry for the quiet on the blogging front. Firstly I had Mum here until Tuesday morning, and then I took a night of insomnia, so I've just been catching up on sleep.

Anyway, without further ado, here is my card from the fantastic sketch at Friday Sketchers.

At first i thought this sketch was far to simple, but then I realised that was the beauty of it! Hope you like it.
